Miracle on the mission field: October 2015. While in Gondar, Ethiopia, as the director of the prayer room for Jewish Voice Ministries International (JVMI), I was called out into the corridor outside of the prayer tent by Messianic Leader Sammuel Zimichael. He asked me to speak to an elderly Jewish man who was about to Aliyah to Israel. This man was the father of one of his pastors in training and was very resistant to the gospel. His son and congregational leaders had shared the gospel with him many times, but he was afraid of being converted to Christianity and for other unknown reasons decided not to accept the Lord as his savior. I was introduced to him as a Jewish sister in the Messiah and he immediately hugged me and accepted me as family.
I invited him into the prayer room to talk and share. He accepted my invitation because he was interested and curious in what I had to say. As soon as he sat down the Lord told me to share my Isaiah 11:11 vision with him. I asked him for permission to share with him the vision that the Lord had given me seven years prior. He gladly listened to my story about how the Lord had woken me up with a vision of his outstretched arm. I shared with him that this vision was about him and his people, that the Lord was redeeming them a second time with his outstretched arm. I also told him how important it was that he return to Israel filled with the Holy Spirit. I shared with him that the Lord wanted him to know him personally. I told him that the Lord sent his provision and salvation in the person of Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah. The Lord then led me to read Isaiah 53 to him and ask him if that didn’t sound like a picture of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sins. He nodded his head in agreement and then in turn felt compelled to share a vision he had just had the night before. He said, “the Lord gave me a dream last night. I was on top of a great mountain and I saw a white man coming down out of the clouds glowing very bright. He was holding out of his arms towards me.” He thought he was Abraham or Moses, but I told him it was Yeshua letting him know that they were about to meet. I told him that God is a gentle God and he would never force himself on anyone. I asked him if he wanted to say a prayer to ask the Lord to reveal himself to him. He agreed happily, so I led him in prayer. While praying a moment in tongues the Lord led me to lead him in renouncing witchcraft and sorcery. So I said, “repeat after me.” This is the prayer that he prayed.
Dear Father God, I’m giving you permission to go to any level within me; to heal, to cleanse, and to restore. I renounce every false teaching, attitude and belief. And I cast down every evil imagination, and everything that exalts itself against the knowledge oh God, and I take captive my mind to the obedience of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Holy Spirit be my teacher and guide me into the truth everlasting. In Yeshua’s name, AMEN.
The next day he came back to the prayer room and excitedly shared what happened to him the night before when he went home after praying with us. He told me that when he got home he was so happy that he started to dance and worship the Lord in his living room. He told me that he was compelled by the Holy Spirit to get rid of all his witchcraft and sorcery materials. He told me that he burned all his witchcraft paraphernalia. And that he spent the entire night worshiping and dancing till he fell asleep. He then shared how the Lord gave him another dream. This time in his dream he was at the top of the mountain with me and Pastor Sammy. He told me I was pointing up at a dove descending toward us. He then said that there was a large vat filled with “new wine.” He told me that I handed him a long straw and told him to drink deeply of this new wine. He laughed and hugged me and I instantly knew that the Lord was preparing him for the release of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Using my walkie-talkie I called for Sammy to come to the prayer room. This man shared his vision and his dream with Sammy and Sammy agreed with me that we needed to pray with him for the release of the baptism. This man not only went back to Israel healed and saved, he also went back with the Holy Spirit and power. Hallelujah!!!!!
As it turns out, Gerald Gotzen, one of the premier experts of African Jewry, came into the prayer room and told me that this man was a leader in the Ethiopian Jewish Community. He went on to say that several years prior, during operation Solomon, when they airlifted over 14,000 Ethiopian Jews to the Holy Land, he was left behind because of a bureaucratic technicality. I believe God left him behind so that he could return to the Land of Israel filled with the Holy Spirit and lead his people to Messiah. Let’s pray he does.
