Overcoming Low-Self esteem

In the story about Jesus' baptism, we read in John 1:29 John the Baptizer saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me. I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water." Now John the baptizer was the one who was spoken of by Isaiah, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord," John was working in the power of the Holy Spirit that the Pharisees expected Elijah to have.

After Jesus was baptized the disciples saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Jesus.  And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."  Then Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit and was then tempted by the devil.  After he had fasted forty days and nights the devil came to him and questioned his identity.  Look how he distorts the truth. He said, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."

God had pronounced that Jesus was not just his Son, but "MY Beloved Son!"  Satan dared question his very image, Jesus' very identity.  Jesus' answer to satan was, "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."  In other words, I'm who God said I am.

Satan does this to us.  We accept the Lord and then we question if we are God's children.  We doubt if we are in good standing with the Father and wonder if we are worthy of having relationship with Him.  This is Satan's ploy to undermine your authority.  Don't let him do it to you.

Once you are in Christ Jesus, you are the Lord's and there is nothing that can come between you and Father God.  If you have questioned your Sonship just let the devil know he's barking up the wrong tree and smile at Jesus.  He's right there for you.

Jesus said, "It is better for you that I go," because he knew that then he could be everywhere through the power of the Holy Spirit.  He's right there with you.  Thank Him for your identity and for who you are in Him.  Then tell low self-esteem to take a hike, in Jesus' name.  Your esteemed of the Lord and that is the word of God. When we are In Christ we are His Children. "You are MY Beloved!" says the Lord!  Thank the Lord for all that you have and you are and have a blessed Resurrection Day!
